The Beloved Duck

We recently visited the home place of Hairston family heritage with Greg's Uncle and his Father. We walked the property, visited the old family home sites and grave sites, and attempted to learn what we can of our Hairston family history while we still have folks around who can recount it. Aunt Liz and Nana returned from a brief excursion to the local antique and crafts market with Donald Duck. Eilene loves the tag on his rear the very best.

Who Has the Sports Page?

At 8 months, Eilene devours all the reading materials she can get her hands on. She snatched Daddy's paper after finishing breakfast on a recent Saturday morning. Too bad she speaks baby! I wonder what she sees besides yummy paper?

7 Months, and Oh So Charming

Eilene is 7 months old. Of course I am biased, but she is the nicest baby I have ever known!

Rubber Ducky Race

We took Eilene to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Rubber Duck Race at Brown's Island this weekend. This is an annual fundraising event for Richmonders which is actually quite a spectacle. Of the 20,000+ ducks, one of the five we purchased placed 6th! We were very excited. It poured down rain as the ducks crossed the finish line and we had a mad dash to the car. At 7 months old, Eilene's first time getting caught in the rain was a smashing success!

First Vacation

We took our first ever family vacation last week at Massanutten. Eilene LOVES wearing her cool sunglasses and hat. Her PFD, not so much. But no worries, we never got her into the kayak anyway.

Bottle Battle

Eilene has learned how to put things besides her hands into her mouth. Today, for the first time, she held her own bottle!

4 Months Old

Eilene is 4 months old and finally long enough to wear jeans.

The weather has not cooperated for short sleeves, but Eilene wore this hand embroidered dress anyway compliments of her Daddy's Aunt and Uncle.

This is Eilene's new favorite accoutrement. It helps her sit up while she works on skills like keeping her head up without bobbing - those darn neck muscles! It is her favorite place for a spirited tete a tete.
